Every writer has crutch words. The trouble is that you stop seeing your own — which is why the most useful editing tool is a ranking that doesn’t care what you meant to say, only what you typed.
Our new word frequency counter gives you that ranking live, on every keystroke:
- Top 20 words with counts and the percentage of your total text each one claims.
- Stop words filtered by default — ‘the’, ‘and’, ‘of’ and about sixty other function words are dropped so the ranking shows the words that carry meaning. One untick brings back the raw count.
- Unicode-aware — accented words, contractions, and hyphenated words each count once; case never matters.
- Private by design — the analysis runs in your browser, so drafts, essays, and unpublished pages never touch our servers.
It doubles as a quick SEO check: paste a finished page and see whether your target phrase’s words actually lead the ranking — or whether you’ve repeated them into keyword-stuffing territory.
